East Coast Bays Cricket Club AGM and Board Nominations

5 Jun

The 2018 East Coast Bays Cricket Club AGM wil be held at Windsor Park on Monday 2nd July at 7:00pm.

The club is governed by a Board which is voted into office at the AGM each year and we currently have 3 vacancies on the Board which we are looking to fill at the AGM. Under the ECBCC constitution, Board members are not required to be playing members of the club and I therefore urge you all to consider standing for one of the vacant portfolios.

New Zealand Cricket and Auckland Cricket are urging member organisations and clubs to increase the diversity of their Boards and management and we are committed to this initiative. Whilst we have females involved in our administration, we do not have female representation on our Board at present and would therefore welcome female nominations.

We are looking for nominations for the following portfolios:

Junior Chair

  • Chair Junior Committee meetings (8 per annum)
  • Attend Club Board meetings (8 per annum)
  • Appoint Grade Convenors and provide assistance to them in the running of their grades
  • Liaise with Director of Cricket and Club Administrator to ensure the smooth running of the Junior Section
  • Ensure the targets and objectives set by ACA for the Junior Section are met
  • Attend to other Junior cricket related matters as required.

Girls’/Women’s Convenor

It has been several years since ECBCC fielded female teams. The Board considers this to be a priority and are therefore looking to appoint a Girls’ Convenor at the AGM.

Whilst a good knowledge of cricket would be an advantage, this is not essential, with a passion for Girls’ and Women’s sport being a greater priority. The Convenor will work closely with the Director of Cricket and Club Administrator to lift the profile of female cricket in local schools and the community in general. The initial objective will be to establish a minimum of one girls team in the 2018/2019 season, with the longer term objective being to field a Women’s Premier team by 2023/2024.

Facilities

As many of you may be aware, the Windsor Park Board, who own and run Windsor Park, are planning to redevelop the facility. The redevelopment will provide additional playing fields and a new club house with an indoor facility. Whilst the Cricket Club is represented on the Windsor Park Board, the new facility together with the maintenance and improvement of existing facilities requires a greater focus and we are therefore looking to establish a Facilities portfolio on the ECBCC Board. The successful candidate will work closely with the Windsor Park Board, the Director of Cricket, our maintenance service providers and other stake holders.

Please make an effort to attend the AGM and give serious consideration to standing for one of the vacant Board positions. If you are interested or know of anyone else who may be, please contact Rod Schmulian the club chairman to discuss further at 027 280 3437 / rod_cricket@xtra.co.nz
